Weekends in Georgia can be established by the Labor Code or by Government Resolution.
● According to the Labor Code, the weekends are January 1st–2nd, 7th, and 19th. ● According to the Government Resolution, January 3,6,8-10, 2025 are declared as weekends.
Work during the weekends established by Georgia's Labor Code (January 1st–2nd, 7th, and 19th) is considered overtime and is compensated at an increased rate. While this rate is not legislatively defined, judicial practice is guided by an increased coefficient of 1.25 (unless otherwise stated in the employment contract).
Work during the weekends established by the Government Resolution (January 3,6,8-10) is NOT considered overtime and is compensated at the standard rate.
